Reasons for PVC fading and aging

As the service life of PVC edge banding increases, fading and aging problems are inevitable. So, is it due to quality reasons or other reasons that cause the fading and aging problems of edge banding?


Some manufacturers on the market nowadays often cut corners in processing and production in order to save costs, resulting in a lack of proper anti-aging ingredients for PVC edge banding. However, every production process of PVC edge banding is closely related to the quality of its finished product, such as substrate color powder, printing ink, etc., which have a significant impact on discoloration and aging. Insufficient use of these processing ingredients may lead to a series of problems such as fading and aging of the edge banding in the future.


Secondly, exposure to strong light and high-temperature operating environments can easily cause aging and discoloration. When the PVC edge is at a lower temperature (between 20 ℃ and 40 ℃), temperature changes have little effect on the photo aging of the PVC edge; When at high temperatures (60 ℃~80 ℃), temperature still has a certain impact on the light aging resistance of PVC edge sealing, especially for white and light colored PVC materials.
